A Network Video Recorder (NVR) is a central recording device used in IP-based surveillance systems to capture, store, and manage digital video from network (IP) cameras. Unlike traditional DVR systems, NVRs receive already processed digital video data from IP cameras through a local network or the internet.
NVR systems support multiple channels such as 4, 8, 16, 32, or more cameras, and typically store footage on internal hard drives. They offer features like live monitoring, motion-based recording, scheduled recording, remote viewing via mobile apps, HDMI/VGA display output, and USB backup options. Many advanced NVRs also support smart AI functions such as face detection, human/vehicle classification, and intrusion alerts.
Most NVRs support PoE (Power over Ethernet), allowing both power and data to be transmitted through a single Ethernet cable, simplifying installation. Network Video Recorders are widely used in homes, offices, retail shops, warehouses, schools, and commercial facilities, providing scalable, high-quality, and reliable 24/7 surveillance management.
